Twenty years ago, on October 31, 2000, the OpenAFS project was born by a small group of individuals at CMU (Carnegie Mellon University)--its corpus owing to the generosity of IBM, which cast forth a largely complete version of its AFS 3.6 source tree under the IBM public license.
At Sine Nomine Associates, our team is proud to have actively supported the open source project from the start. It's been a great adventure.
Here's to trusting we will keep this ship smoothly sailing for another twenty!
