Kurt Acker and Neale Ferguson were chosen for the year 2021.

IBM Champions are selected from among technology experts in order to share their knowledge. From the program website:

The IBM Champions program recognizes these innovative thought leaders in the technical community and rewards their contributions by amplifying their voice and increasing their sphere of influence. IBM Champions are enthusiasts and advocates: IT professionals, business leaders, developers, executives, educators, and influencers who support and mentor others to help them get the most out of IBM software, solutions, and services.

Sine Nomine Associates engineer Kurt Acker writes:

I am really proud to inform the community that both Neale Ferguson and myself were announced as IBM Champions this week. Sine Nomine Associates (SNA) was formed around supporting OpenAFS and helping to bring Linux on z Systems to life. SNA remains dedicated to advancing and supporting open source software while integrating world class services from private providers into today’s complex hybrid ecosystems. Our latest partnership with Home Lending Pal pushes us into helping customers integrate services into IBM’s new Hyper Protect Virtual Servers, continuing our dedication to support the system after next. Please use the contact us option on our web site to see how we can help you too.

An IBM Champions Chat, hosted by Libby Ingrassia, is available on YouTube. The 2020 video, which explains the program and features several 2020 members, can be found here.
