Sine Nomine is proud to announce version 2.3 of LXFMT is available for download. This version is a substantial rework of how disk geometry handling and volume formatting occurs, which should adapt better to new DASD types and be a bit more resilient to odds-and-ends that used to break things in unpredictable ways.

If you haven’t encountered LXFMT before, the tool provides a way of preparing minidisks in the CMS environment for use by Linux. It does the equivalent of dasdfmt and fdisk in one step, and is callable by CMS tools like DIRMAINT and other directory managers as an alternative disk formatting utility.

LXFMT23.VMARC is available at http://download.sinenomine.net/lxfmt/ You will need to do the usual PIPE to reblock it after transferring the VMARC to your VM system.
