Sine Nomine Associates, Inc., a leader in open-source development and support, is pleased to announce a joint effort of Sine Nomine Associates, IBM, Microsoft, and RedHat, as well as the .NET and Mono open-source communities, who, together, have now made .NET 6.0 available for IBM Z and LinuxONE™.
Having worked with IBM Z for 40 years and Linux for over 25 years, our team has helped to develop mainframe capabilities to levels never imagined in the beginning. Our involvement in the open-source mono project from the early 2000s to the Microsoft-led .NET ecosystem of the present has opened the doors to virtualization, cloud, edge, container, and other exciting compute technologies.
Our team have been early contributors to the Linux on Z ecosystem for decades and continues to do so. Our work includes maintaining a CentOS based distribution for Z called ClefOS, and creating much needed tools such as our IP bridge, CMS, SFTP tools and High Availability Option (HAO). Also, we are currently partnering with AlmaLinux to deliver their Linux version on Z. Our principal engineer Neale Ferguson has written and presented internationally on mono/.NET’s value for Linux on Z, which became the foundation for IBM’s LinuxONE™ offering.
