Slack/390 Support Added to Linux Support Portfolio

Sine Nomine is pleased to announce that we have added Slack/390 to our support service portfolio. Slack/390 users may now obtain commercial-grade support contracts for Slack/390 in addition to Debian, SuSE/Novell and Red Hat, and we will be adding Slack/390 CDs to our media creation service in the near future.

MVMRUG May 2009

At the April 2009 meeting of the Midwest VM Regional User Group (MVMRUG) in Columbus, Ohio, Scott Courtney presented an overview of OpenSolaris for System z and a just-for-fun tutorial on building a low-energy "green" server for use in a home or remote office. The OpenSolaris presentation was originally created by David Boyes.

System Images for Build 95 of OpenSolaris for System z

The system images for build 95 of OpenSolaris for System z are available for download from http://distribution.sinenomine.net/opensolaris. Three packaging choices are available: VMARC, AWSTAPE and a DVD image.

Changing the Way Computers Compute (April 2008)

Mike Cowlishaw, IBM Fellow, presented "Changing the Way Computers Compute" at the Hillgang user group meeting on 24 April 2008. This presentation explains the need for hardware-accelerated binary decimal formats and the emerging IEEE standards in this area.
