This section contains presentations made by the Hillgang Group, a Mainframe Linux and VM user group which meets in the Washington D.C. area. There are also selected presentations by representatives from other companies, posted here with permission of the authors.
Mike Cowlishaw, IBM Fellow, presented "Changing the Way Computers Compute" at the Hillgang user group meeting on 24 April 2008. This presentation explains the need for hardware-accelerated binary decimal formats and the emerging IEEE standards in this area.
