OpenAFS on Windows aided by Winafsbld

Sine Nomine Associates has created a set of batch files called Winafsbld designed to help developers build OpenAFS on the Windows platform. A BETA version of the software is available online.

The software development tool is designed to address the following issues:

  1. The use of short (8.3) file names
  2. The need to edit many lines in ntbuild.bat to change from one build
    configuration to another (or to maintain multiple versions of the
    ntbuild.bat files)
  3. Limited documentation and comments
  4. Minimal error checking
  5. A substantial learning curve for people new to the Windows OpenAFS build
    process
