My OpenSolaris Installation Fails to IPL with Trap 6 During StartupProblem: After installing the OpenSolaris distribution on my VM system, I get a trap 6 during system startup, and the system creates a dump file. What's wrong?
Cause: The network diagnose APAR (VM64466 for z/VM 5.3, VM64471 for z/VM 5.4) is not applied to your system or is not in the running CP (ie, you applied the maintenance, but haven't IPLed to bring the newly serviced CP into production). Solution: See the install guide for information about the prerequisites to using OpenSolaris for System z. Ensure that you have applied the network diagnose APAR for your release of z/VM and IPLed your VM system after applying the service. You can verify that the network diagnose is installed by issuing the CP 'COMMANDS' command. If the network diagnose is installed, DIAG2A8 will appear in the response to the COMMANDS command Information on applying service to your z/VM system can be found in the IBM CP Service manual. |
